Building, Madrid

I confess I know nothing about it. I passed by one day in dull weather and just liked it and took the shot (I have a couple of others). I can't remember even if it is residential or commercial or anything else for that matter. I haven't been back to that part of Madrid (Hortaleza) since.

This is indeed an unusual building. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this. With the railings surrounding it, it's certainly not the norm. I'm not sure if I like it or not - funny that.

Hi Andy

Very nice picture.
I have seen this kind of frame around buildings in London. I think the idea is to prevent summer sun from heating the building excessively, but the winter sun, being lower in the sky, can give some solar heat gain.. But I am not an architect, so may be wrong..

Best Wishes, and a Good Weekend

Excellent framing for your nice shot, Andy! An anonymous building, therefore, strangely structured as a kind of prison. Very original ; not especially beautiful: just original, to my taste.

Andy Rodker replied to Eric Desjours:

It was stuck in the middle of an estate of very much nondescript 80s residential appartment blocks and therefore really did stand out form the ordinary, like it or not! Pleased you like my frame! Many thanks, Eric!
