A cranesbill species, Geranium Robertianum, a. k. a. Stinking Robert or storksbill.
I moved into a new flat a few years ago and this was in the window-box. It had to go, pretty as it was, as I needed the window-box for tomatoes! This was its valedictory photo!

I can understand you, if you only have window boxes the useful is more important than the purely decorative. I have given up on all window boxes and pot plants, can't be bothered any longer;-)

I have a grand total of 8 pot plants, now over-wintering in my current flat but which will go out onto the window sills when appropriate. But I don't get enough sun for tomatoes or herbs, unfortunately!
