Chun Quoit

The cutest quoit in Cornwall (there are a few equally cute dolmens in Brittany and elsewhere in Europe).
Neolithic burial chamber; would have originally been buried completely under a mound of smaller stones and earth but 6,000 years of Cornish weather has easily disposed of all that!

It took some serious cooperation to put that up there.

Andy Rodker replied to Ronald Losure:

I doubt it, Ron. This coastal platform was forested, supported probably the same population as today and they would have been VERY eager to heave the pesky granite boulders to one side and get them out of the fields! So any excuse to pile them in a corner somewhere (for funeral or building purposes) would have been welcome; I'm quite sure of that ... although my theory appears nowhere in books about neolithic Cornwall!!

This is the only one in Cornwall where the capstone hasn't fallen over or off!
