Porthcadjack from the crest of Samphire Island

by Andy Rodker
It's fun scrambling to the top of Samphire Island!
I didn't know the way onto and up to the top of Samphire Island (there is no 'path' as such) until I watched a family (all ages) go up and I followed as they seemed to know what they were doing. They had their picnic on the top (here) and they told me that this had been a family tradition to have a picnic here once every Cornish holiday, ever since their grandparents had started the tradition in the 1930s!

This perspective gives a great view of the cave!

Andy Rodker replied to Gudrun:

Yes it does!
Apparently it is possible to visit the cave on foot but only on the 2 or 3 lowest tides of the year and I have never quite managed to time my visits that exactly. I expect it would be a case of 10 minutes max before a quick dash back!

I think I'll use this for the photo notes!
