In Memoriam Of Our Fellow Mountaineers Who Died In An Accident

Summit cross on the Great Ox Wall (2,700 m) in the Kalkkögel (Tyrol, Austria). In light of the extensive tourist accessibility of the Alps, it is often forgotten: The mountains are not a playground!

...the guy did not put his hand underneath, as we say here...

Bergfex replied to Xata:

But he is safeguarded with a double short rope on the mountain wall.

Xata replied to Bergfex:

No, it was not what I meant, I know YOU were safeguarded, as I did practice mountain climbing... I know the gear.
I meant the christ did not protect those who died, in my country we say that he did not put his (divine?) hand underneath to avoid those climbers to fall.

Bergfex replied to Xata:

We do not know this saying. But it could also be that only I don't know it because I don't believe in such things.

Xata replied to Bergfex:

Neither do I.
In reality it is derision humor. It means that only fools thrust a god to protect them from their lack of prudence or bad luck...
