Edvard Munch (born December 12, 1863 in Løten, died January 23, 1944 in Aker) was a Norwegian painter, graphic designer, early representative of expressionism. He is a internationally renowned Norwegian visual artist.
His best-known composition, The Scream (1893), is part of a series The Frieze of Life, in which Munch explored the themes of love, fear, death, melancholia and anxiety.

Yes, those shadows are prominent on many paintings. After this lately visit I see his work with new eyes - it has been 27 years - I like especialy his work from around the 20-30's.
