.These flowers last only one night, they are usually pollinated by bats... but bats disappeared 10 years ago from the area thanks to humans...

Their flowering is somewhat like that of the moonflower I posted a picture of earlier. A vine that produces large, white flowers that last for one day, and then fade. It has been flowering frequently in the house.

Of course, daylilies produce a number of flowers, but each lasts one day only. Talking with a younger friend (now gone) he said he'd never plant them. "Flowers should last more than a day!"
