Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) is a popular hiking destination near Stavanger, Norway. The hike is 5.5 miles (9+ km) with 1770 feet (540 m) of elevation gain. The rock towers nearly 2000 feet (604 m) above Lysefjord and the views from the end of the trail are spectacular. When we did the hike the trail and Pulpit Rock itself were very busy with people waiting in line to walk out to the end of the rock and have their photo taken.
