A really beautiful stained glass window. I'm sure you know the story of paratrooper John Steele of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR), whose parachute got caught on the tower roof and spire of the town church. He hung there for two hours, pretending to be dead until the Germans took him prisoner. I have never visited Sainte-Mère-Église, but now it's on my wish list.

The photos just before this one in my photostream tell the story of John Steele and show the effigy of him that hangs on the steeple at Sainte-Mere-Eglise church. You must, if you have opportunity, visit the town and church.
