Derby Canyon is a sandstone canyon in eastern Washington near Peshastin. It is one of favorite places for spring wildflowers (the previous photo of the Western Peony was taken there) and is a wonderful place for exploring and hiking. The northern side of the sandstone ridges is usually heavily forested and the southern side dry and much less heavily forested. This is the northern sides of a ridge still very green but bare as a result of a forest fire there some years ago.
