Italy, Urbino, The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta
Urbino Cathedral is a Catholic cathedral dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The first cathedral on the site was built here in 1021, to replace an earlier one located outside the city walls. Under the patronage of Count Federico da Montefeltro, it was rebuilt in the 15th century, based on a design attributed to Francesco di Giorgio Martini. Construction was not finished until 1604.
