Heavy Weather

Yesterday, there were thunderstorms over Germany, floodings, and hail as big as birds’ eggs. In Icking, however, we only heard some thunder, felt some raindrops, and saw impressive skies.

Thank you, Nigel! The worst hail we’ve ever had was when we were still living in Munich, in the mid 80-ies. In the late afternoon, it suddenly became almost dark as night, and the little light that remained was a weird yellow.
When the hail started to fall, banging against the windows, we were excited, at first, but soon we had to leave the room as the window panes went to pieces. We had double windows, and in one case a hailstone had gone through both panes leaving two clean round holes, like a bullet. You can imagine what the cars still out in the streets looked like! I’m glad the weather wasn’t as interesting yesterday as it had been then.
