Actually I really like this one Diane. The compositional "rules" are only for guidance and I often ignore them if I like the results. That's what counts.

Thanks, very kind of you, Keith! ;-b

Further to what Keith said, I sometimes compose like this myself -- a division in the middle between two very different scenes. Actually, rdhinmn pointed that out to me; I didn't plan to do it. Well, regardless of what I do, this is a very impressive shot, with the sharp division etc.

Iy's part of an excellent series, too.

My only rule of composition is to avoid using the Rule of Thirds.

Diane Putnam replied to John FitzGerald:

Haha - well thanks very much, glad it serves some purpose! Never thought of doing what you describe...on purpose!

Ah, still active! A wonderful place! Reminds me of Lake Tahoe, where I was once in the 80s.

Diane Putnam replied to polytropos:

Hi, poly! Active when I can get out and around. It does resemble Tahoe - the poor people's version. Nice to see you here!

Thanks a lot!
Well, I am now retired too and no longer have so much time for Ipernity! ;-D.
But I try to upload a few pictures from time to time. Of course i'm on the road a lot more now; so there would be enough subjects :-)
