This looks a lovely place to paddling or rowing around in a small canoe/boat. I looked at the location on the map. There are peaks as high or higher than the highest in Australia. Arewinters cold here?

Here in the mountains, yes, but not as much where I live at a lower elevation. I'm at bout 4100 ft / 1250 km. This lake is 5000 ft. / 1500 km, The big difference is in snowfall - much deeper at the lake. In recent years, of course, there can be very little snow.

Hm Diane, I think you should remove the "k"s in your metric data - 1250/1500 kilometer seems a bit very high ... ;-))
