Trailer with beautiful sky

For the first time in my life, I finally got to see northern lights! I am so excited! These are all taken at my son's house, where there is no light pollution. From my apartment, it was impossible. I live in town, so there are bright lights everywhere and only the faintest pale purple was visible. In these out-of-town photos, the light is brighter and pink more saturated than in reality.

Outstanding shot! Don and I just got back from Armonk, NY and were also fortunate to see them. It was the first time since 2003 I've seen them. :) Congrats!

Yes, it was also very visible in Germany and should still be very visible next weekend: www.swpc.noaa.gov
German news reports say that this is the strongest solar storm in the last 20 years: www.tagesschau.de/inland/polarlichter-deutschland-104.html

Unfortunately, I've never had the opportunity to see something like this live myself, as I live in the middle of Hamburg, where it's far too bright at night, but there are lots of webcams of very lonely areas on www.foto-webcam.eu, for example - and almost all of them looked very pink last night, beautiful!
Many of them from last night can be seen on www.foto-webcam.eu/webcam/bestof

A wonderful photo! Regrettably I wasn't aware of this last night. I am currently in an area with low light pollution but maybe still to far in the south. This evening I will be back in a big city where I don't expect it to be visible.

Very impressive. The location is even further south than Germany. And even here, it's very rare to see something like this.

Lucky lady Diane, Where I live I'm too far North of the South Pole to see these, 27.5 degrees S. I remember seeing them one evening the year I started school when the area I grew up in was at the northern edge of Sydney.
