Yes, I remember how awful they were in the San Francisco area where I came from. I felt like I should stand night guard over my favorite plants, like delphiniums. And the snails! I was never able to nurse some flowers to full bloom. Now, I have a big, glorious delphinium that comes up every year, unscathed.
