Purple house

Why why why would anyone do this? Maybe it's one of those neighborhood revenge things. Or, one of those ladies who loves purple has gone nuts?

Is there a high incidence of colour-blindness in this area Diane?

Apparently so, Keith! This must appear as pale green to the owner...at least I hope it does for someone!

Hmmm...I just can't think of a good excuse for it, but yours is a possibility!

... oh, a little garish ... but in Downeast Maine, purple with lilac trim is often seen; true, the purple there is more subdued than this ...

Right on US Route 1 in Milbridge Maine is a big nice 3-story house with those colors; I should stop and click off some photos ...

Eegads, yes, please do! ;-b
I think this takes "a little garish" up a few notches.

Around here, I see a crayon box of colors on houses of a certain vintage, recently applied. I don't know what to read into it. But to each his/her own, I reckon.

Diane Putnam replied to Smiley Derleth:

Funny, I've seen more of that recently, too. I don't mind it, even though it's not my taste at all, but this one seems almost belligerent to me.

In the 60's my mother had her house painted a color that definitely didn't conform with the neighborhood, I think it was mostly out of a sense of rebellion. I was proud of her decision, though one of my other brothers thought it too brazen. Luckily it wasn't this far 'off' from the standards.

Yeah, purple, to me, is a revenge color. ;-)
