Yes, red and green together is difficult to take. Green needs a lot of light to be displayed well.

The red almost looks radio-active, it vibrates with energy! I've noticed that yellow-red does this, but blue-red does not (or not very much). There was not very much light on this plant, in fact I added highlight to the leaves, none to the flower.
