Tilsit

First, I have never eaten Tilsit Cheese. Second, it says "perfect for snacking and entertaining." Third, it was in the shape of a wheel. ;-o

It was a no-brainer. Into my basket it went...

And, did you like it? It's note quite as bland as Gouda or Edam:-) I haven't bought Tilsiter for quite a while as we are spoilt for choice here...

Diane Putnam replied to Gudrun:

I haven't opened it, yet. I do hope it has more flavor than Gouda and Edam. I've always loved sharp, strong or stinky ones, but will eat almost any cheese! I've never had limburger or any other German cheese. Danke, Gudrun.

P.S. An old high school prank that was popular in the 1960s was to put limbuger cheese in the school's furnace vent. Lol!

Final question : How much was it ?

I would guess …….very expensive !

Diane Putnam replied to Léopold:

I bought it at Grocery Outlet, so it was only about $2.49 for 1/2 pound. That discount grocer usually has a fantastic international cheese section, so I always have very good ones for very little money.

Gudrun replied to Diane Putnam:

Tilsit is a wee bit on the stinky sideso you should be fine;-) Haha, Limburger in the furnace, that must have been quite a smell;-)
Apropos stinky: if you can get it, try real Munster from Alsace!

Diane Putnam replied to Gudrun:

I have had Munster, but have no memory of where it was from. Very possibly it was American "Muenster."

Gudrun, you need to eat once a Swiss Tilsit cheese; especially the more spicy one. It's not that bad, au contraire! :-)

Gudrun replied to polytropos:

real Swiss cheese isn't bad at all:-)
