Yummy! They don't last long, do they?;-) I eat loads of asparagus and strawberries as long as I can get them fresh:-)

Diane Putnam replied to Gudrun:

The strawberry season here is quite long, because we get some from Mexico into the fall. And cherries from Washington state soon! I haven't had any of those, yet, but I will.

I hope very much that these are all of the 16 coded digit variety!
Doesn't matter to me as I became allergic to them about 20 years ago!
Very nice triptych anyway!

Diane Putnam replied to Andy Rodker:

Oh, that's too bad! I did it the opposite way, allergic to them as a small child, outgrew it fairly quickly. Oh well, there is plenty of other delicious fruit, so I wouldn't miss any particular one. Thanks, Andy.

Gudrun replied to Diane Putnam:

Well, we also can get strawberries for a rather long time but the Spanish stuff is "optimized" to stand transport and look good, taste is virtually non existent....So I only buy local strawberries.

Andy Rodker replied to Gudrun:

The Spanish ones we get in Spain are exactly the same and the public are conned with the story that the best ones are exported!!!

Gudrun replied to Andy Rodker:

What a pity! Only consumers can change that (by not buying...)

Diane Putnam replied to Gudrun:

Strange that Spanish ones don't have good flavor. They must be growing the wrong hybrid. Ours are definitely bred for sturdiness in shipping (and gigantic size), but have intense strawberry flavor.
