Diane Putnam replied to Léopold:

Funny - I had never planted petunias before moving to Oregon. I thought of them as too garish and common. I discovered they are fragrant!

Bugger surfinas! These are definitely petunias!

Diane Putnam replied to Andy Rodker:

Oh, I just looked up surfinas (correctlly, surfinias) - those are the fancy, newer trailing kind I bought a few of last year. More colors available, too. They were great, but too expensive to justify those traits. So, it's ordinary petunias for me!

Andy Rodker replied to Diane Putnam:

Thank you, Diane. Not having gardened for 8 years and not even having visited a garden centre in that time, I have forgotten much! Yes, the trailing varieties were always a little bit more expensive but as I majored a lot on hanging baskets, what could I do?
