They will be hatching the minute it warms up enough. But, it's nothing like "the old days" before there was spraying. It sounds like an extreme thing to do and it is controversial in some areas, but to not spray means W. Nile virus and equine encephalitis can spread. Some people fill out a "No Spray" form for their street.

Or maybe it's a warning about the new mega-giant mozzies coming to a pond near you all the way from, yes you've guessed it, Mexico! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!
