Union Pacific lumber train

by Diane Putnam
Going south (<left) to California.

See PiP for another shot of that big rusty thing - a sawdust burner. Also see this link for the album for the old Modoc Lumber Co. and info about old sawdust burners: https://www.ipernity.com/doc/1227338/album/766844

Diane Putnam replied to Andy Rodker:

Hahaha! Right, Klamath Falls missile base. It's a sawdust burner, relic of the logging industry. I should add another photo of it as a PiP.

Not a water-tower? Great shot, I love these glimpses of industrial Americana.

Diane Putnam replied to Steve Bucknell:

Nope. Sawdust burner for an old lumber mill that no longer exists. I'll add another photo of it as a PiP. This behemoth was built in the late 1890s.

Thank you, I'm fond of these logging industry antiques, too.
