Yes, I could. Funny, I've never thought of doing that - what's wrong with me? I haven't been on a train since I was about 10 years old.

Train trips don't have near the "romance" they once had, but I've done the LA/SF trip a number of times and they're still wonderful views of the backyards and inaccessible parts of the country, plus the people who do trains are usually fascinating.
