This is what a Sydney travel agent told me: Coca Cola Corp. tried to pull this sign out of Sydney a few years ago due to the cost of maintaining it. The sign had been there for many decades. The city said, "Nope, sorry, it's been declared a Heritage Landmark." So, they have to keep maintaining it. Yay, Sydney! Why I didn't get a shot of it at night, I have no idea.
