How surprising...........I never knew that! I assumed that the bear would be the apex predator.
However, having seen these photo sof them together, I think the bear would have to be pretty desperate to attack something of the size and strength of a bison ;-))

I wonder if the same would apply in the wild, when food is not always easy to come by?
Bison lived on the Great Plains of America and bears in the forests and mountains; so there was little chance of them ever meeting.
And a bison runs fast (when it’s not attacking)!
