En ce moment, par chez nous, on voit souvent des champs bleus, parsemés de tournesols. Il s'agit de la phacélia, une interculture, que l'on plante après les moissons et avant la prochaine semence. C'est pour éviter l'érosion des sols, et ça garde l'azote. Et après on l'enfouit pour en faire un engrais vert pour la future culture de maïs.

FIELD IN FLORAL ATTIRE. At this time of year, here in our region, you often see blue fields dotted with sunflowers. These are phacelia, a cover crop that is planted after the harvest and before the next sowing. It prevents soil erosion and retains nitrogen. It is then ploughed in to act as green manure for the next maize crop.

FELD IM BLUMENKLEID. Zu dieser Jahreszeit sieht man hier in unserer Gegend oft blaue Felder mit einzelnen Sonnenblumen. Dabei handelt es sich um die Phazelie, eine Deckfrucht, die nach der Ernte und vor der nächsten Aussaat gepflanzt wird. Sie verhindert Bodenerosion und bindet Stickstoff. Anschliessend wird sie untergepflügt und dient als Grunddüngung für den nächsten Maisanbau.
