The Andaine Forest in South Normandy has many legends attached to it. It is even said it was the birthplace of Sir Lancelot of the Lake, knight of the Round Table of King Arthur!

Merci beaucoup. N'est-ce pas étonnant, cette petite porte dans la forêt? Elle se trouve près d'une fontaine d'eau chaude. Quelqu'un a dû la mettre là, c'est insolite mais bien trouvé dans cette forêt plein de légendes..

I have been to this forest and the countryside here is terrific but I never knew of this legend (sorry, true stories!). YS.

Andy, you know this forest? Here every natural place has at least one legend attached to it, and so many inaccessible nooks and crannies give plenty of room for mythical beings... Thanks a lot for your YS.

Legend has it that the leprechauns can grant wishes !

Christa1004 replied to Gerrit Fischer:

Thanks Gerrit. I didn't know this about the leprechauns, but just nearby is a well of wishes: the tradition is to leave a cross made with branches there to see the wishes becoming realized...
