Lake Annette und der daneben gelegene 'Lake Edith', die sog. 'Kettle Lakes', sind die Überreste eines Sees, der am Ende der Eiszeit das gesamte Athabasca-Tal bedeckte.

Die Seen werden vom ausgedehnten unterirdischen Flusssystem des Medicine Lake gespeist (siehe Bild-Beschreibung unter 'am Medicine Lake (© Buelipix)'.
