Durham –The River Wear and the Elvet Bridge

Originally built in the 12th century under Prince-Bishop Pudsey, this medieval stone structure features pointed arches and is a designated Grade I listed building. I liked the Building on the bridge. It is in fact The ‘Tango’ restaurant with a date plaque of 1771.

Glad you liked it Amelia. Still dry here but rains expected to arrive later today and to be here for a week or so. We had some rain about a fortnight ago and some of the plants recovered but like yours, many are lost,

Viewing large on black is a must. Each archway on the bridge frames a lovely little scene of its own.

In many ways this looks very French. I think we must have had many such bridges at one time but most have gone. You are right the single archways did create their own pictures and I have at least one worth showing here in the future. Glad you liked my take.
