The summer of 26

Walking along the River Wear new Durham we witness a field of wheat going up in flames. It was at its worse around one hour earlier with clouds of acrid black smoke seen from a long way. We see it here when the fire had done its damage and was being damped down by local firemen.

As I took this, wildfires were raviging many places in Britain and Europe especially France and Spain as the temperatures soared and rainfall was at an all-time low.

Yes in many ways are climate is spiraling out of control. It does not help when major countries refuse to believe in Climate change. At the moment ll our local fires are out bit...

Definitely too close for comfort Herb.........the firefighters seem to have done a sterling job as usual, getting the fire under control.

As you say, there are many places struggling with the wild fires, especially Spain and France. We can only watch and wait :-(

A lovely series of images my friend..!!

Herb Riddle replied to Keith Burton:

This was as close as we got Keith, after asserting that we were safe. I give the firemen great credit for there fortitude here. We are due to travel to a fire torn area in Spain in a few weeks. Many concerns there!

Herb Riddle replied to TOZ:

Ah it seems that these fires still burn despite the rain we had over the weekend. Not good. I heard that some friends went for a walk at the dam but much was fenced off by the fire service. I'll take a look when it is all definitely over. A great shame.

Herb Riddle replied to William Sutherland:

This one was William but our two local ones at Dovestones and Tintwistle still burn on albeit in a quieter way now after quite a bit of rain a few days back.
