A Harvest in the making

This field full of wheat or barley was seen near our holiday home not far from Bishop Auckland in County Durham. Later on the same day we were to see a similar field go up in flames, destroying the
entire crop. This field however was in fact harvested some five days later.

Thanks Toz. I believe that most farmers are harvesting their crops early because of the lack of rain before they spoil. The harvest, as a result are expected to be much smaller than usual.

Thanks for this Keith. Yes I saw too that the light was right for a photo here and I liked the wheat heads as they swayed too. Glad you enjoyed them.

It reminds me a lot of the vast fields of the Castilian plateau. I assume that agricultural insurance will cover the burned crops.
