Mallaig harbour

A high view of Mallaig here. Standing on the coast of Morar facing out over the sound of Sleat to the Isle of Skye. A gateway to the Inner Hebrides and a thriving fishing port. It is also the terminus of the famous West Highland Railway Line: Oban - Fort William – Mallaig.
We see directly ahead the Isle of Rum with Eigg to the left and the Isle of Skye to the right.

Herb Riddle replied to Gudrun:

Yes a fine from from up here showing Mallaig perhaps at its best. I think that are building new houses just below where I am standing . Glad you liked it.

Great views from up there Herb. We have taken the train from Fort William to Mallaig on the Jacobite, although I love the pretty coastal route by car, stopping in at places on the way.

Well captured and even better on full screen

Herb Riddle replied to Ecobird:

Great to see you here again Carol We have done that road trip up to here now three times (both ways) but never the rail trip. My brother once did the Jacobite but saw nothing in the heavy rain and steamed up windows with a crowded carriage. As you say, a lot of nice places to stop, especially in good weather with a camera. Great that you enjoyed this one.

Best wishes. Herb

You found a great viewpoint for this shot Herb..........and what a magnificent view it is!!

The cloudy sky and the islands in the distance are just gorgeous and the view of the town and harbour is lovely. The light and detail are just splendid..!!

Herb Riddle replied to Keith Burton:

Yes, we had tried a few times to find a good high view of the town but this seemed to have cracked it. The weather can be really nice up here and that makes for great views but know it is often bad too. Glad you enjoyed it.

Herb Riddle replied to TOZ:

You can't beat a great viewpoint Gordon. We did not know we would get to this as we were just trying a walk to the back of this hill. Scotland provides some good views for sure.
