The Avenue

A trip near Wrexham in Wales brings us to the magnificent Erddig Hall and its gardens.
Here is the formal avenue of pleached lime trees creating lines of rich golden hues for us.

“Pleached lime trees (Tilia europaea or cordata) are excellent winter structure plants, featuring a clear, formal framework of branches and striking red-toned twigs. As deciduous trees, they lose leaves in winter but maintain screening through dense, interlaced branches.” Google

Always good to see you here Roger. Yes a fine line-up of these trees that seemed to shimmer in the light.

Well designed gardens are interesting in all seasons. A great perspective, the golden orange tones contrast well to the green.

Herb Riddle replied to Gudrun:

I was pleasantly surprised with this garden Gudrun. A lot of variety here and these trees, I do not recall seeing anywhere else before. I seem to be seeing a lot of formal gardens at the moment, probably because Eileen likes them so much. Glad you liked the shot.

Beautifully captured from a great perspective Herb. The trees look great standing like soldiers waiting to be inspected, and the symmetry is almost perfect.

The trees in the centre at the rear of the frame are beautiful. Lovely light and colour too.

Herb Riddle replied to Keith Burton:

I am glad you saw these as standing soldiers Keith as that is exactly what they reminded me of too, the Irish guards with their bearskins caps. I am quite sure it looks even better in the height of summer. Glad you liked it.

Cheers. Herb

Nice leading lines and colours Herb, you could have 'cheated' and cropped the left hand side to get the bottom corners matching. It's not the venue I was expecting I thought it was going to be the National Memorial Arboretum
