The River Brathay near Elter Water

As this river, now in spate enters Elter Water we see here the rather typical Lake District weather. We are looking SW to the Fell of Old Man of Coniston ( 802-meter (2,632 ft) here. We were to have some nice surprises of sun-burst shortly after taking this.

Herb Riddle replied to TOZ:

Thanks Gordon. Another case of having taken the view too with my DSLR and this somehow just looked better - maybe the focal length differences perhaps. I am always pleasantly surprised about the quality of pictures from that phone. I have seen some photos from the latest Iphone 17 on here and they take things to a different level. - A very nice riverside, Fell view and lakeside walk here for our last full day of the week. Not bad for one of the wettest weeks up there for some years.

Take care. Herb

Herb Riddle replied to David G Johnson:

Thanks for this David. A marvellous little walk here done in two two halves. One going past the waterfall and then up the river to the lake output and then the other, via car to the village of Elterwater to walk back past the lake to the river again. My little I7 phone does take nice photos but I still prefer the control of my far heavier and bulkier Nikon.

Best Wishes to you too. Herb

Beautifully composed, with a lovely misty background. I like the semi-silhouetted trees against the sky and the light is lovely.

The colours in the landscape are a really nice mix of green and different tones of brown and your phone camera has picked them up perfectly.

A corker of a landscape shot Herb........it matters not, whether it was taken with a phone camera or a "proper" camera..!!

Herb Riddle replied to Keith Burton:

Good that you enjoyed another of my landscapes Keith. Yes the camera seems to make the very most out of even dull weather scenes like this. Perhaps making my feeble human brain redundant soon -what with AI etc. I do try to rebel against taking phone pics but with results like this how can we resist.

Cheers. Herb
