HFF ~ Specialist nuclear freight crossing Arnside Viaduct

A regular train service to Heysham Power Station as seen from the shoreline of Arnside in Cumbria. These two very heavy locomotives make easy work transporting this but the name of the game is slowly does it and with great care!

The locomotive on the left ,68034 is a Rail Rider 2020 - Class 68, a rather meaty 7500hp diesel electric for 90 ton wagons and the locomotive on the right is the 68002 Intrepid (3750hp). The combined power seems a bit overkill, until you realise what's in the flask. - The whole train is the 6C51 1285 Sellafield - Heysham train. My thanks to our friend Tractacus (https://www.ipernity.com/home/305825) for tracking this down.

Best full screen.

The viaduct is impressive! In Germany such a transport would be high security with lots of police.... HFF and a good weekend!

Great shots. Has the railway track ever been subject to flooding? HFF and a happy weekend ahead, Herb!

Herb Riddle replied to Stephan Fey:

Glad you liked this Stephan. I don't think the viaduct itself has ever been flooded but some of the surrounding area has.

HFF, enjoy the weekend. Herb
