Waiting on the steps

These steps climb up to the famous Melk Abbey and show us the way but something else is wondering about visiting too. The cat soon ran away as we approached. Maybe it had been watching a bird?

Herb Riddle replied to TOZ:

Good that you approve Gordon. the coloured version looks OK but I thought this looked more artistic. We were not going to climb these stairs but after seeing the cat decided to do so, to see what was up there.

Herb Riddle replied to Günter Klaus:

I have always liked to take pictures of steps and stairs also. These looked particularly good and the cat made it for me. Glad you approved the monochrome version here.

Herb Riddle replied to J.Garcia:

Light is so important on our photographs Judite. I saw instantly the play of shadows and light but then the cat made the difference too sat in the perfect position. Gld you liked it.

A beautiful study in light and shadows Herb............and an impressive looking archway as steps. The cat showing up was a real stroke of luck........you couldn't have positioned it better if you tried.

Purrfect in black and white!!

Herb Riddle replied to Keith Burton:

Good that you enjoyed this study Keith. The archway belongs to Melk Abbey which we were to briefly visit after ascending the steps. The cat and lighting were most fortunate as you acutely observe here and showed off at their best, in my thoughts, in monochrome.

Best wishes. Herb
