A manor view

A look towards Bolton Hall showing the top of the bridge across the River Ure and the old gate pillars. This track would have been one of the main private roads to the house as the bigger public road was only a hundred meters away behind me.

Try to imagine an old coach and horses full of gents and ladies in period clothing visiting for a summer gala dance on here. (PiP)

HWW, enjoy the day.

Herb Riddle replied to David G Johnson:

Thanks for this David. This must have been quite impressive in its day. I can well imagine the thoughts as this splendid manor came into view for the first time. In actual fact we came by the house via another far better avenue parallel to the house for about half a mile to the main road at the village of Wensley. I believe that was added to the grounds later.

Snow here last night and so I imagine even more with you this morning.

HWW., have a good day. Herb

You seem to be a day ahead of yourself Herb :-))

A very grand entrance to the estate and house..........how the "other half" live eh? Nicely composed and taken. I like the shot in the PiP too.

Herb Riddle replied to Keith Burton:

You know Keith - it worries me -I had no idea when I posted this that I was on the wrong day. Thanks for the heads-up. Not sure now what to do about tomorrow. That explains too, why when I went to post comments on other peoples HWW shots I found only last weeks. Maybe dementia starts off like this? Anyway -glad you liked it.

Cheers. Herb

ps -I had not even twigged from the earlier comments here that I had glanced once or twice today.

Thanks Eva, even though I posted on the wrong day.

Yes, there was a big tree to the side of me. Thanks for the call.
