The Northern Lights come to my home.

A remarkable sight met me at my home last night. Yes the Aurora Borealis made a showing. After trying to see this several times in the north of Scotland and even attempting to go to Iceland (Covid stopped that one) and failing, I was shocked. The first time it has shown here in Oldham, in NW England I believe. In reality it was even seen in London and so no doubt over all of northern Europe.

The Aurora borealis was viable in Shropshire too, but we don't have any big horizons, being in a tree lined dip in a village with too much light pollution.
What a stunning thing to see. Lucky you, Herb.

Herb Riddle replied to Amelia:

Thanks Amelia. In reality I rarely see the stars from our house but last night they were stunning too. we have too much light pollution here too but it has gone better over the years. Glad you liked this and I am sorry that you missed it.

Herb Riddle replied to Steve Paxton:

Glad you liked this one Steve. As you are a master of this star photo capturing it is much appreciated. It would have been nice to see it from further away but I had to keep where I was in case it al suddenly stopped again. I think you get the Aurora Borealis from the south pole where you are? Great that the stars were captured too with my old 10-24mm.

Keep well Herb

That looks very good, more or less the same as the re-take I made. By the way, you got the Plejades in you picture

Herb Riddle replied to Ko Hummel:

Glad that you liked this version a bit better than the old version Ko. Yes, I noticed that Pleiades was in sight too. Thanks again for your heads-up.

Herb Riddle replied to uwschu:

Thanks for this Uwe. I suspected that you would have it there in Hannover too. It would have been a nice shot over the Machsee or behind the Rathaus.
