Eilean Donan castle in profile

As we journey back home I took a last look at this castle, so here is another photo but this time a little closer. Taken from the eastern side. pip

"One of Scotland's most iconic and most recognisable castles set in the majestic NW highlands. The island's original castle was built in the thirteenth century; it became a stronghold of the Clan Mackenzie and their allies, the Clan MacRae. Between 1919 and 1932, the castle was rebuilt. The restoration included the construction of an arched bridge to give easier access to the island."

Enjoy the day

Herb Riddle replied to Diana Australis:

Yes, not the view one normally sees, at least like this. We are on our way home here in the best weather of the fortnight practically.

Herb Riddle replied to Keith Burton:

Thanks for this Keith. The last one of this castle for a bit now. I took this on our way home in the best weather of the fortnight maybe. There are so many good angles and places to get this castle and its surrounding countryside plus water. from, how can we go wrong?

You're welcome Herb. I doubt I'll get up there again, so I have to rely on your photos to remind me of how lovely Scotland is.
