NC500 GT. - 25 –Lochinver

We have now reached Lochinver, a village at the head of the sea loch Loch Inver, on the coast in the Assynt district of Sutherland, Highland. A fishing port frequented by European fishermen primarily from Spain and France. In 2020 it was the fourth largest whitefish port. We were actually staying in the nearby village of Inverkirkaig. The new fishing harbour is in the distant right.

The NC 500: The Scottish 'North Coast 500' is one of the world’s most beautiful road trips. A route of just over 500 miles (516) of stunning coastal scenery, white sandy beaches, rugged mountains, remote fishing villages and hidden gems.

Ein Friedhof direkt am Wasser, hoffe, man hat hier keine Probleme mit Hochwasser.

Herb Riddle replied to uwschu:

Thanks for this Uwe. The cemetery is actually some distance above the water. Glad you liked it.

Have a great Sunday. Herbert

Very envious of you Herb, we had planned to do the NC500 also, but sadly old age and medical reasons made it unwise.
The photo opportunities must have been tremendous.

Herb Riddle replied to natureoncam aka Greg:

The NC500 passes through and near some of Scotland's most wonderful scenery. We actually did this section as a week near here but did other sections on other holidays. Not a route to be taken whist not completely fit and only with a good reliable vehicle. Very happy that you have enjoyed my photo here and maybe you could also peruse the group photos that show a more complete picture of the NC500.

Best Wishes. Herb

Thanks for posting a view of Lochinver from this angle. We have a little piece Highland Stoneware on our fireplace purchased from their place just a little further along this road.

Herb Riddle replied to Colin Ashcroft:

So glad that this brought back more memories Colin. This taken 24 years after your visit here it seems but that being said I think it would have been essentially the same sleepy place.

Herb Riddle replied to TOZ:

A village we only really drove through to and from our destination of Inverkirkaig. It was very sleepy here. (But not as sleepy as Inverkirkaig.)

Cheers. Herb
