Glen Ogle Viaduct -traditional view

Our last full day at Killin before heading north takes us past this famous viaduct in Glen Ogle. Time for another attempted photo in the drier weather but from this lower viewpoint on the A85.

See PiP, last photo for more details of the viaduct itself.

Did you walk across the viaduct, Herb?

Herb Riddle replied to Amelia:

No we only got to the far left side of the main structure before rain drove us back (see adjacent photo). I can see that better photos were perhaps where to be had from the diagonal path leading up from the valley.

Cheers for the call. Herb

Herb Riddle replied to TOZ:

A few good walks from near here Gordon. In reality I am on a layby by the main road taking this popular scene.

Excellent. The classic view from the A85. Oh to see that train hauled by a steam loco pounding up the gradient from here!

Herb Riddle replied to Loose_Grip/Pete:

Yes, I too can imagine a steam loc with a full head of steam here. Glad you liked it.

A lovely view of the viaduct and the wider landscape Herb..........both very impressive. The colours are a bit more muted than the view in the PiP, but still very nice!

Herb Riddle replied to Keith Burton:

Glad you liked them both Keith.

I had not thought too much about the colour hue difference as I first saw and edited them but now you point it out I see a big difference in the colour of the trees and grasses. I have just checked both RAW files and I have used the same lens. I see the auto white-balance was different for each but I think the main difference is simply the difference in light on the two days. Remember the one up at the viaduct was in pouring rain and I had adjust the contrast up a little in the edit -the one by the road was on a bright late afternoon . Apart from that.....hope this explains things a little.

Cheers. Herb
