Gordale Scar waterfalls

After recently being reminded of this area I thought it was time to show this. A 2010 adventure for us exploring Gordale Scar in the Yorkshire Dales near Malham. We were supposed to climb up with the river here, like these intrepid walkers but after heavy rains we declined and got no further than this.

"Gordale Scar is a limestone ravine 1 mile north-east of Malham, North Yorkshire, England. It contains two waterfalls and has overhanging limestone cliffs over 330 feet high. The gorge could have been formed by water from melting glaciers or a cavern collapse. Wikipedia"

Herb Riddle replied to TOZ:

Thanks Gordon. It was your recent Scar photo that prompted me to post this one. Like you I have been up to that top waterfall and beyond I think some years before this was taken. Cheers for the visit.

Enjoy the weekend in a bit of rare sun perhaps. Herb

Yes, a lot of visitors all wanting to climb up here, especially in the holiday times. I have climbed up there at least once but many years back when There was not so much water as this. Glad it brought back memories for you.

A great image, Herb. I'd also think twice about climbing with all that water coming down.

A very rugged looking location.........but it looks like a challenging place to walk and climb.

You've captured the water movement beautifully and the fantastic detail in the rocks. It seems like a very popular location as well.

An excellent shot sir!

Herb Riddle replied to Keith Burton:

Thanks Keith. Another of my Olympus E-410 shots here from way-back-when. I think I was more adventurous in those days. Glad you liked it.
