Life on the Lowes.

After exploring a completely new place just the day before this, I decided to re-visit a small area just a 15 minutes’ walk from my door called Glodwick Lowes. Snow had fallen overnight and so I was in a winter wonderland. Here is one of my favourite types of trees, the Silver Birch with a still autumn leaved beech tree at its side. Just before seeing this, I saw a couple of very shy Roe Deer that eluded my camera.

Best at full screen.

Enjoy the day

A beautiful picture, and so close to home Herb. I hope you get another chance to see the deer and get a picture. No snow here :-(

All the best, Rosa.

Herb Riddle replied to Rosalyn Hilborne:

The snow still stands Rosa with ice under and above it. I went with Eileen yesterday to see if we might have seen them but I guess mid afternoon is not a good time and as well as that, the whole place was in shadow. But a good 7000 step exercise all the same. Glad you liked it.

Wow! This is a really beautiful winter scene Herb..........the trees look fabulous with their light covering of snow and the light is gorgeous.

A wonderfully atmospheric shot my friend.

I got almost the best of this weather on Monday Keith. I have already tried the area again yesterday (see my comment to Rosa). Cheers for enjoying this with me.

Herb Riddle replied to TOZ:

Glad you liked this one too Gordon. A new place for some new snaps here. Coincidently, I have just been looking at the silver birch trees I took whilst with you on our Dovestones walk but the ones I took a week earlier were better. That being said they are somewhat similar to the ones I have already posted through the years from there. Hope to catch those deer on film one day.

Herb Riddle replied to Günter Klaus:

Dear Güni, I must have seen this place many times as a boy but it was never like this. There were no trees at all here, only a wasteland after many years of mining. To see deer here too was a major surprise for me. I will explore here more now that I know what it has to offer.

Thanks for your visit and I hope to see you again.
