Valley of the Rocks: ‘Castle Rock'

A view from just a little higher than the bench I posted the other day (Pip) showing what is known as the Castle Rock. I can certainly see why it is so named. Behind that I see here another castellation which may be part of the Lee Abbey? There seems a constant haze in the deep valley behind the rock, as this channels sea mist up the valley from the sea to our right. I saw people on the rock at one point and so I presume it is not a difficult climb.

A magnificent picture of this amazing view Herb. We tend to forget how many beautiful places we have in this small country, but you find and show us so many of them, so thank you very much for that. It makes me want to visit again as well :-)

All the best, Rosa.

Did you see the White Lady ?

Herb Riddle replied to Peter Castell:

Hi Peter. I thought you was joking me with that, as I had never heard of her here. Anyway on looking at my captures, I have found her up in that cube rock, although on my low viewpoint, she is a bit stouter than usually depicted, hence I never thought of seeing the gap as a lady. Now you have pointed it out, I see it clearly. Maybe I shall post her here too. - DONE- see next photo or PiP here.

Cheers. Herb

Beautifully composed in lovely light Herb..............the rock is certainly aptly named as you note, and it is positioned nicely in your frame.

I like the contrast between the rocky landscape in the foreground and the undulating hills in the background. Very well captured sir!
