After the whole set of mirrors and filters cleaned 10 shot each filter

This is just 10 shot each filter Ha, Sii Oiii not even RGB stars this was shot in cloud breaks to check. The clarity of the shot is staggering. this is not a stack of 120 shots each filter.

LRGB artifacts. Bernes 142

I brought the whole scope in cleaned all the mirrors and filter's went through the process to rebuild the whole lot again. This is a few hours work cleaning the rebuilding the telescope back to how it should be ready to take a photo.

18 months.

18 months of dust build up on the mirror in hind sight better to have a 6 month plan... This is very much part of this telescope they work well but the main mirror is very much open to the dust and falling objects. I was able to put the vacuum extension down the tube and remove the dead mosquito on the mirror.

All clean

15 min cleaning with soap and water cleaning getting finer and finer.

I also to the opportunity to clean out the tube as well blow out and the dust that has built up with in the light baffle's in the telescope. Plenty of dust came out .

I can only see a clean image none of the circles in the first shot as I am in clouds and rain I have not got much chance to sets out. I have yet to test out LRGB but i have to wait for a night I can shoot a few of each filter then stack. Then its a case of see the result but things are looking very hopeful so far. The test dummy is the Running Chicken just how it came out, did not line up. I put it together as Hubble with very little editing was interested to see if the faults where still there or not. thankfully not.

I was not but I did think that this goes with taking the shots so good to get the full process. Its all these things are an important part of taking photos. getting it all right you get your photo I knew there was some dust on the mirror but not quite what I thought was there. All night long when in use dust is falling inside all over the mirror. Now I can build a time line going forward.

Steve Paxton replied to Diana Australis:

Its a very easy hobby as you can see but get it all 100% right you get photo's like the shot above. That shot I still cant believe is made of 10 shot each filter cant wait to string a few nights cloud free to really see the result. Its no different to having a house you got to keep it clean if you want the best out of it. Many thanks .

Steve Paxton replied to Gudrun:

If you had got yourself this far in as I have patience comes as second nature. But if you want to see where real patience comes from look just one photo back "Bonsai".

History Never Repeats -Willy Wag Tail Tale Pt 2

I look forward to be able to get some cloud free nights to really see the results. many thanks.

The cleaning took a good bit of time but the result speaks for itself last night I did LRGB not a sign of the faults so a very worth while exercise. Now its redo offsets and flats.

I am in awe Steve, absolutely stunning shot.

And your little birds photos too equally stunning, such a contrast between the two - worlds apart !!

Steve Paxton replied to MaggsMep:

The bird is truly stunning how does a 200mm bird become a trusting friend of some one who is 190.5 cm. FOOD and a matter of trust that I will do no harm. the bird has free rein over me I just sit back and wonder "How the Hell". Deep space has always fascinated me but its been a long learning curve to get it all correct.

Many thanks This will be my target after the testing to see just how well it comes out. When I look up at the sky at night I do feel so small but when I get the chance to bring these to full life I feel a whole lot bigger than before. No matter what its a very humbling privilege to be able not only shoot but bring to life for others as well.
