you really have no clue just how much is out there and how spars it is out there.

It could be worse he could be going uphill !! it makes you wonder what he was doing was it part of a long distant ride, I'm assuming what looks like water is an illusion

Nothing could be worse than this I would rather be riding up a hill in England or NZ than out in this total isolation. One puncture that can't be fixed you would be history if you have no water or some some to pick you up. No phone out there other than at the service stations you pass every 300km. that water is nothing but heat from the road and on a bicycle you are out in it.

But I am sure you would not like to be out in the heat that caused the mirage but a very real problem you face so far out of civilization.

Having driven the Nullarbor, I can't say riding a bicycle across it has ever appealed to me!

You know the real danger in doing this and what could go wrong, never been an idea I would ever entertain either.
