Cosmic Bat NGC1788

My first coloured photo with the Mono camera using the 4 filters that make up the coloured photo. LRGB or Luminous , Red, Green and Blue just like a DSLR can only be shot when there is no moon light. This is not as easy as a one shot coloured camera...

Carlo's version With Narrow band filters.

Cosmic Bat NGC 1788

The last piece of the Puzzle a Mask on the main mirror to stop the light scatter out the side of the Mirror. Screwed on but then flocking over screw to hide the screw.

Mask In place.

The view looking down the tube at the main mirror.

The dark ring.

you will notice the centers of the Stars are much cleaner no flare to the sides so a much finer star. The solid spider shows the colours given off by the Star so the 4 vanes are coloured.

Great work, Steve, though I must admit I become lost in the technicalities.

Steve Paxton replied to tiabunna:

I am myself constantly amazed as well that just very small things can change the image so much but I have to say I will not go looking for further ways to improve the telescope. now its time to run with it, many thanks not the easiest way to take a colour photo either.

Steve Paxton replied to Xata:

This is certainly a small target but a very interesting one this is what I was trying to take out at the dark site but for the very strong winds.

Ich bewundere deine Fachkenntnis in Umgang mit der Sternenfotografie. Das ist eine komplizierte Wissenschaft für sich.
