Small part of the Small Magellanic Cloud

This was a trial to check collimation and to see just how well the "flocking " that was put around the top of the Telescope tube worked.

The flocking is suppose to stop light scattering and enhancing contrast - yes that worked.
Ocal collimator line things up better than by eye. - it sure did .

This is in the top part of the big cloud in the PIP below.

Small Magellanic Cloud & 47 Tucanae.

Steve Paxton replied to Stephan Fey:

This is not as easy as the other telescope but it looks like I am finally coming to grips with the stone age way its adjusted. I think its more perseverance with patience thrown in. Glad you like the shot. Under clouds and rain.

Steve Paxton replied to TOZ:

I have to confess I was thinking of giving up on this telescope because of its very old way of adjustments and it lack of consistency but a new small camera used to set it up is proving its worth. The very flimsy spider at the front does not help at all that hold the secondary mirror which is soon to be replaced with a one piece solid spider so no movement.
