Fallen tree

We walked behind Granddaughter and boy friend as we walked the trail in Jarradale where she grew up. Some enterprising person pulled the young tree down to the ground, it now rooted both end in the ground. Nature only grows one way. UP

Steve Paxton replied to Nick Weall:

Walk path, only no truck would get under that tree other than a mini one.

Haha, a great capture Steve. Love this tree making a natural arch for us humans to walk under.

Keep safe. Herb

Steve Paxton replied to Herb Riddle:

Have to say first time I have ever seen this but know how to do it as a bonsai not on this scale though. The result is so effective makes you wounder about nature.

Hi Steve
A wonderful and interesting composition!!
I have never seen it done with a tree, but certainly with some other smaller plants.. Then whe the link is cut each grows by itself.
Best Wishes, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!

Steve Paxton replied to Peter_Private_Box:

yes that is exactly how it was done but never cut its still got both end firmly rooted in the ground. a method as a bonsai grower that is quite familiar to me but never seen it done on this scale before, the net result is quite a arch that is very unique. I could not walk by and not get a shot it was so different.

It makes a great fame, i have read that when wooden warships were in great demand that was done with oak trees to grow the ribs, definitely a case of thinking ahead !!!!!!!!! ( I have left some thoughts on your old camera gear shot)

Steve Paxton replied to Peter Castell:

It certainly dose and not one you see very often at all, I can see just how that would work with the oak trees as well. planning. I have read those thought my look at that as well.
